Distressed Sales To Drive AM Deals In 2009





Large asset management deals are likely to increase this year due to more distressed selling of investment divisions by commercial banks and insurers, consolidation in the alternative sector, and opportunistic buying by financial players, according to Jefferies & Company subsidiary Jefferies Putnam Lovell.



According to number of deals, 2008 was the second most-active year with 217 deals compared to 242 in 2007. Overall ranking also saw 2008 second best over time, with deals worth USD1.99 trillion in assets under management, the ...
